Chief’s Message

SILVA

It is an honor to lead the professional men and women of the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department (MDSPD). A safe learning environment is paramount to the educational process. Our students cannot truly learn if they do not feel safe. Each day, MDSPD officers strive to keep schools safe. They do so by serving as role models and forming strong relationships with students and staff, ensuring they feel comfortable with sharing information that is prudent to a safe school environment.

MDSPD is fortunate to have forged strong relationships with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners. It is essential we all work together in collaboration.

As chief, I will continue to work tirelessly to ensure school safety remains our top priority. As a father of school-aged children and a Police Chief for a school-based law enforcement agency, I am grateful that I am able to serve in two capacities that allow me to witness first-hand the importance of mentoring today’s youth. Together, with the support of the community, our police Department stands ready to bridge the gap between law enforcement and our students.
